Veterinary Technology

Overview

This program is designed to prepare students for careers in the dynamic field of veterinary medicine as Veterinary Technicians, who work with veterinarians in all aspects of animal health, disease, and welfare. Plus, who doesn’t want to work with animals all day!

This program prepares students to become vital and contributing members of a veterinary health care team who are fully capable of performing a wide variety of professional roles within the veterinary medical setting.
This program is now an open-enrollment program (See Below).
Students will be able to demonstrate a variety of skills, including competency in the entry-level skills needed to support companion animal medicine and to communicate verbally and non-verbally with patients, clients, veterinarians, and veterinary staff in an effective and appropriate manner.

With a degree in Veterinary Technology, students can begin an exciting career in a variety of fields, including:

  • Small animal practices
  • Herd health management
  • Pharmaceutical sales

Admission

Veterinary Technology is an open-enrollment program. Students are required to:· Meet the essential functions of the program and classes, with or without accommodations· Provide their own transportation to clinical sites· Complete all required courses throughout the program with at least a “C” or better in all program courses, including general education and maintain an overall 2.0 GPA· Follow the program standards as outlined in the program handbookVeterinary Technology is a full-time, cohort-based program that begins in the fall.
