The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) course prepares learners for their
certification exam through the National Health careers Association (NHA). The certification
demonstrates proficiency in clinical procedures, patient care, and basic administrative
duties. Clinical Medical Assistants (CMAs) assist healthcare professionals with a
variety of tasks. Most often, CMAs perform either clinical or administrative duties
in healthcare facilities. Clinical duties could include anything from taking patients’
vitals to reviewing patients’ health history, while administrative tasks could include
working with scheduling patients’ appointments or insurance and billing.
To be best prepared to sit for the CCMA Certification exam, we strongly suggest enrolling in the Phlebotomy or EKG Career Training in addition to the CCMA Career Training.
The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program provides both theory/knowledge-based content supplemented by hands on skills labs to prepare students to sit for the NHA CCMA exam and to be career ready upon passing the exam. This hybrid program includes focused core course work through the following classes:
- Fundamentals of Medicine (Online)
- Health Assessment (Hybrid)
- Medical Administrative Assisting (Hybrid)
- Clinical Medical Assisting (Hybrid)
- Additional Skills Lab completion (Hybrid)
Pierpont’s Career & Corporate Training Office offers skills labs in Phlebotomy, Point of Care, or EKG.
Note: The skills lab component is not included in the tuition cost of the CCMA program. Students who complete a skills lab/course have the opportunity to sit for additional certifications in the lab area of choice.
